Have you been told in some way or other that your issues are “all in your head”?
It’s the nature of dizziness and other similar symptoms and conditions that only you can feel and others can’t see. The burden of “invisible illnesses” is heavy, as sometimes, you may feel alone in carrying it. Many of your family and friends may not understand, and many healthcare providers may not listen.
After a concussion or with a vestibular disorder, your visual, vestibular, and somatosensory (muscles and joints) systems are “off” and send conflicting information to your brain. When there is a conflict of sensory information to the brain, a wide range of symptoms can arise, including dizziness, vertigo, blurred vision, lightheadedness, unsteadiness, or a general sense of feeling “off”.
Sonia’s mission is to empower you by giving you the knowledge and tools to learn about and deal with what’s going on in your head and body so that you can tell them that it really is “all in my head” because that’s where your brain is and that’s where everything happens!
Meet Sonia
I’m a Physiotherapist and Vestibular Therapist who is dedicated to helping you get back to doing what you love. Working with clients with concussions and dizziness disorders is my passion and increasing the awareness of “invisible conditions” is my mission.

Are you living with dizziness or vertigo?
You may benefit from Vestibular Rehabilitation, which is a specialized form of physiotherapy that diagnoses and treats symptoms of vertigo, dizziness, gaze instability, and imbalance. It involves prescribing specific exercises to address the positions and movements that make you feel “off”.

Have you had (or think you may have had) a concussion?
You may benefit from Concussion Rehabilitation, which involves using different treatment approaches and techniques to address a wide range of persistent post-concussion symptoms. These symptoms can include headaches, dizziness, vertigo, visual motion sensitivity, blurred vision, balance issues, neck pain and stiffness (from a whiplash injury), and exercise intolerance. Treatment approaches can include learning about how to manage post-concussion symptoms (such as using pacing and planning strategies), graded aerobic activity, exercise therapy, manual (hands-on) therapy, and vision and vestibular therapy.
How can we work together?
Vestibular Rehabilitation (for dizziness and vertigo)
is a specialized form of physiotherapy that addresses symptoms associated with vestibular disorders, such as vertigo, dizziness, gaze instability, and imbalance. Vestibular physiotherapy involves taking a complete history of your symptoms and medical history, conducting neurological testing, and infrared video goggle testing (to observe the nystagmus patterns of your eyes, since your eyes have direct connections with your vestibular system). Sonia stands apart from other vestibular physiotherapists with her expertise in using infrared video goggles for assessment and treatment.
Concussion Treatment
is a multimodal approach to addressing the wide range of post-concussion symptoms associated with a brain injury. Following a concussion, a brief period of rest is recommended for the first 24-48 hours, and then it is encouraged to become gradually active while staying below your cognitive and physical symptom thresholds. However, if your symptoms persist, concussion treatment with an experienced therapist can be helpful. Sonia’s extensive concussion education and experience will provide you with optimal results. You can even benefit from concussion treatment if it has been years since your injury!
Physiotherapy
is treatment to restore, maintain, and maximize your mobility, function, and well-being through physical rehabilitation, injury prevention, education, and health and fitness. Treatment can consist of manual (hands-on) therapy, the use of therapy tools and modalities (i.e. laser therapy), exercises, and strategies to manage your pain, work around your injury, and optimize your function. Sonia has been working as a physiotherapist for almost ten years and has helped many patients reach their goals.
